Transit Hostel at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand is an example of accommodation type infrastructure project. This project is proposed to provide temporary accommodation along with service space requirements. This is a stilt building with five levels of construction having arrangements of all different kinds of users in one room facilities, dormitories, house keeping units, mess, kitchen, and parking arrangements.

This project consists of 18 single rooms with attached toilets, 2 male dormitories, 2 female dormitories, mess and kitchen facility, 4 house keeping units and stilt parking facility. Efficient planning has been made after considering various aspects like efficient room arrangement, proper circulation, zoning, service arrangements, privacy considerations, and access to the user. Stilt level has been arranged for parking purposes and upper floors have been organized for providing comfort to users.

My Role: It was my job to plan the layout of the building and create the three-dimensional views of the same. This was a good chance for me to practice accommodation planning, functional zoning of buildings, and architectural visualization of institutional hotels.

The designing philosophy took into account the need for a functional design that will provide an ideal layout for a transit accommodation building. Adequate segregation among the sleeping compartments, dormitories, utility sections, and other amenities was taken into consideration while planning the building. The entire planning was planned in a way that would be effective as well as comfortable and would have visual appeal.
